This Sunday was a lazy bank holiday for some, but not for a team of an enthusiastic Orange Rockcorps volunteers in north London – who gave up their weekend to give some TLC to the Selby Trust in Tottenham. Formerly a secondary school, the building is now home to several charities and youth organisations – but it has been calling out for a makeover for some time
Crown have donated the paint for all the Orange Rockcorps projects – and Sunday was a great opportunity to see how it is being put to use. The team at Tottenham rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in – repainting walls, skirting boards, railings; even doing murals and decorating the playground with imaginative and colourful designs. Jameela Jamil from T4 and X-Factor prodigy Olly Murs were also both there mucking in and mucking around! They were being filmed for a T4 special to go out later in the year – so watch this space….
If you're not yet familiar with it – Orange Rockcorps is a fantastic programme which encourages people to give up 4 hours of their time to help out on these kinds of community projects. In return they get tickets to some really amazing gigs. A win win situation! Its a great project and it was fantastic to see the enthusiasm the volunteers have and the energy with which they attacked the project at Selby Trust. Have a look at some of the pictures and see what a difference a lick of paint can make!
