The design team at Crown Paints have been busy creating new and exciting colour schemes for our meeting rooms.   Today, myself and a few friends have been adding  the finishing touches to one of these rooms, adorning the wall with a stunning chandelier stencil.

The colour scheme for this meeting room was inspired by the 2010 Crown colour trend ‘Plush and uses the rich and ornate colours; Prom Night®
Indulgence Luxury Matt Emulsion, Eveningwear® Fashion for Walls® Flat Matt Emulsion and Aspen Silver® Indulgence Luxury Matt Emulsion. The stencil was painted in Millionaire® Fashion for Walls® Metallic.

The stencil design is part of the Crown Jewels, our exclusive collection of stencils designed by students at The Royal College of Art. The Chandelier design was created by Ken Seon Lee. The design is called Image Furniture and is available to buy from www.crownpaint.co.uk (just click on stencils). Take a close look at the design to see the chandelier is actually made from everyday household items, from a tea cup, key to wine bottle opener! This design is the perfect way to bring a bit of glamour to any room in the house – or a busy meeting room!

Actually doing the stencil was a lot easier than I’d thought. I like the fact that in less than two hours you can add some real ‘bling’ to a wall – and the beauty of a stencil is that you can use it again, and again!

My Top tips to create a stencil.
  • Check you hang the stencil straight, use a plumb bob or a spirit level and get a second opinion!
  • Secure the stencil with low tack tape, or re positioning spray
  • Apply your Crown Paint gently with a stencil brush or sponge – it is really important to make sure you don’t have too much paint on your brush/sponge. Apply straight on, and take your time.
  • Try using more than one colour on your stencil design – experiment, the perfect thing about using stencils is that you can easily re paint the wall if you want to try another idea or colour combination.
