The Only Fools & Horses spin off TV programme ‘Rock and Chips’ the BBC film about the famous Trotter family set in the 1960’s, when Del’s father, a reluctant decorator, was invited to do a spot of decorating for a character played by Nicholas Lyndhurst (Freddie the frog), who ironically plays Rodneys dad! The BBC was challenged to create some tins of emulsion paint that fitted the period, they approached Crown Paints and our inhouse Design Studio created some authentic pack designs from that time, our brand was called Walpamur (Wallpaper & Paint manufacturing company), then evolved into Crown Walpamur in the late 1960’s. 

 

This was an interesting project for our team but in a little way helped create the period mood for the BBC classic. We often review previous designs for packs for inspiration if we were to launch a 1960’s pack ‘maybe this time next year we could all be millionaires!’.
